DALY CITY, CA & Glendale, CA, May 31, 2023 --The EVERY Company ("EVERY®"), creator of the world’s first animal-free egg proteins, has appointed Scott Hine as Chief Production Officer. In this crucial new role, seasoned food and fermentation executive Hine will lead EVERY’s global manufacturing expansion, engaging a network of partners and EVERY-led production as the company rapidly scales. The company’s latest move to advance large-scale production positions EVERY to meet growing demand as it onboards larger customers, and accelerates its overarching strategy to achieve cost parity with conventional proteins.

Hine brings to EVERY over three decades of experience in agriculture, consumer food, and consulting, including leadership roles at Kraft Foods, Accenture and Novus International. As Chief Innovation Officer at Novus International, a creator of nutrition solutions including those from fermentation for livestock, poultry and aquaculture, Hine oversaw a +$250M global business portfolio and led the development and acquisition of technology and innovation partnerships. At EVERY, Hine will spearhead the company’s initiatives to produce the protein volumes required by multi-national leaders in food, closing demand gaps in animal-free protein delivery and elevating EVERY’s capacity to address food systems insecurity while co-creating a better tomorrow alongside partners.

“Precision fermentation has been around for decades, scaled dozens of times with various microbes, and manufactured at costs that work even in highly commoditized markets like animal feed,” said EVERY Co-Founder and CEO Arturo Elizondo. “This is the world from which Scott joins us. With his 30+ years of experience across the food value chain including industrial-scale fermentation, we can leverage best practices from the industry to not just compete with – but undercut – the current market at scale.”

An abundance of data show that for alternative proteins to truly compete, reaching cost parity with traditional protein sources is essential. Globally, food systems account for over one-third of greenhouse gas emissions,1 with animal agriculture and related impacts a significant source of carbon pollution. Introducing nature-equivalent animal-free protein to recipes allows food manufacturers to play a key role in decarbonizing the food system while achieving ESG targets tied to supply chains.

EVERY is the world’s first company to commercialize egg proteins raised in fermenters rather than factory farms, and its proprietary fermentation platform unlocks realistic solutions for nutrition delivery amidst growing food systems challenges, disease outbreaks and price volatility. The company recently sprang forward from a seven-year R&D period to launch three novel proteins in just over 12 months, and has demonstrated success in replacing resource-intensive hen eggs in various applications, from baked goods to beverages, and recently announced a JDA to improve the texture of meat alternatives.

News of Hine’s joining EVERY comes as the business prepares to produce far larger volumes of its proteins, and on the heels of other notable executive hires, as the company brings on best-in-industry talent to expand its leadership team ahead of growth. Other recent key appointments to EVERY's executive roster include Nair Flores as SVP, Head of Legal, and Sarah Ham as Chief Operations Officer.

“I've always been interested in the nexus of food systems, nutrition delivery and sustainability,” said Hine. “Given my personal goal to help nourish the world, EVERY’s position at the intersection of these areas makes for incredible mission alignment. I’m looking forward to drawing on my background in food and agriculture to help scale solutions for EVERY’s animal-free proteins, ultimately creating kinder—and more accessible—outcomes for people, the planet and animals.”

With its technology platform for protein production in play and talent density growing at the leadership level and beyond, EVERY is well positioned to scale and deliver on its purpose to disrupt traditional forms of protein delivery and accelerate the world’s transition to animal-free proteins.
